It is the function of the De Soto Public Library to acquire, organize, preserve and make available books and related materials to the De Soto community and surrounding areas. Materials will be selected for all ages, from pre-school to maturity and service will not be denied because of religous, racial, social, economic or political status. A nonresident card is available for those livng outside De Soto city limits. Purchase of such a card entitles the holder to the same privileges and benefits that are available to city residents.
The library will seek to provide patron access to computers, the Internet, wireless access, microfilm machine, and other technology as it is developed and the budget permits.
The library will work with other libraries to provide users with the widest range of service possible through cooperative arrangements, incuding reference services, interlibrary loans, reciprocal card agreements, etc.
Putting it concisely the library will provide the best services it can within the limits of its budget.
