The Library has been a recipient of a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant via the Missouri State Library. This grant enabled us to purchase a new library management system, "DESTINY". Patrons will notice the new catalog. The system also provides more a reliable program for patron records, book records, circulation records and cataloging. Very soon you be able to access the library's catalog via our website. Keep your eyes open for it!

All person residing inside the city limits of De Soto are eligible to apply for a library card. Proof of identity and residency must be provided by applicant. Cards will be issued to children 6 years of age or in the 1st grade. Children under the age of 16 must have a parent or gaurdian signature. Anyone living outside the city limits of De Soto must purchase a library card. Proof of identity must be provided. There is a fee of $20.00, renewable annually. A 3 month card is available for the summer for $5.00. Non-resident cards are issued one per family.
All library books checkout for 14 days. There is a 15 book limit on each card. All videos check out for 3 days, with a 5 video limit per card. There is a fee of $1.00 per video. Library books may be renewed over the phone during regular library hours or by leaving a message on the answering machine after hours. Each borrower is responsilbe for any items checked out on their card, and any accuring fines.
The fine on all overdue library books is 5¢ per book per day. The fine on overdue videos is the same as a checkout.
Our genealogy department includes local history, cemetery records, funeral home records, census', county records, De soto newspapers on microfilm, CD's and other genealogical materials. All are available for use in the library.
All persons wanting to use the internet must have an internet card with us. All rules and regulations are explained in our internet user policy which you will read at the time you apply for an internet card.
Wireless internet is available for public use.
There is a meeting room and a conference room available for public use. The rooms are free of charge for all non-profit organizations. There is a fee for all other groups. Resevations are required.

Faxes: $1.50 first page ~ 50¢ each additional page
